Prayers for Anxiety

Simple Buddhist prayers for anxiety — words to return to when the mind won't settle.

Anxiety lives in the future. Prayer brings you back to now!

In Buddhism, we don’t ask for anxiety to disappear. We ask for the steadiness to sit beside it — without being swallowed by it.

Here are three simple prayers for when the mind won’t settle.

For yourself:

May I find stillness in this moment. May I trust that I am safe right now. May I breathe, and let this pass.

For someone you love:

May your mind grow quiet. May you find solid ground beneath you. May you know that you are not alone.

For all beings:

May all who are anxious find rest. May all who are afraid find courage. May all beings feel held by this world.

You don’t have to fix anything first. Just say the words. Let them land.

Come back to them as many times as you need.
